Excitement at Barnes & Noble

I stopped by Barnes and Noble at New Hope Commons tonight on my way home from dinner out, and escaped without buying a single book (but pretty notecards instead)! That's not the exciting thing, though! I learned at checkout that the Barnes & Noble sign was on fire! I thought they meant a stand-alone sign was flaming, but no! The store evacuated as I was getting into my car, and as I drove out, I saw that the "B" on the sign ON THE BUILDING was ablaze! Thank goodness the firetrucks were on their way as I drove down 15-501! Yikes!

Oh my goodness! How funny. Thank goodness you were on your way out and not still browsing. I'm sure everything worked out OK, but I would hate to be inside with a fire blazing outside!!

It was a mixture of surreal and funny! An employee went out with a fire extinguisher, but it seems that he couldn't get close enough to have the trajectory of the fire extinguisher's white stuff make a difference (big surprise)! When I pulled out of the parking lot, they hadn't figured out how to turn the sign lights off, to boot!

I haven't seen any reference to it in the news today, so I'm thinking they saved the store! :) I sure hope so!

I drove by the Barnes and Noble today, and saw that the building was still standing, thank goodness, and the sign (with the blackened B) was still on the side of the building!
