George and I haven't plugged in either television since we moved two and a half weeks ago. The cable guy is coming this Saturday, but the TVs will be in each of our separate rooms, not in the living room, and not in the master bedroom. It's been nice not having the TV as a distraction. I've been able to take care of more "things," of which there have been plenty, and I'm reading more, which is GREAT.
On the flip side, I do miss watching the news as a quick way to stay informed. I've been thinking about subscribing to a local newspaper, or to something like Time or Newsweek, to stay on top of things a little better.

What's newsworthy?
It dawned on me this morning, as I listened to the morning news on the TV while walking around the apartment getting ready for work, that I'm kinda sucked into the whole Anna Nicole Smith story, sensational as it is. Oddly enough, I didn't follow her in life, and would often roll my eyes when her name came up in conversation around me. Now I find her life and death both sad and intriguing.
I think that part of my fascination with this story as it's played out on the news lately is that it's a change of pace from the war in Iraq.
Not the only news story to pique my interest, though, I've also been following the Presidential race as it's playing out early on. The fact that a woman (Hillary Clinton) and an African-American (Barack Obama) are in the running for the Democratic ticket fascinates me, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out!
